If you're makeup savvy, or just pick up a lipstick here and there, we may have already met. But if we have not - pleased to meet you, this is JillyMac and I am Jill Olsen, Make Up artist, MAC girl, possibly the woman who will make you and your bridal party spectacular for one big night. If you would like to know a bit more about me, read on.
For a time, I was the girl who would politely try to get anyone to try
a bit of perfume; I was a "Sprayer."
It was a invaluable lesson in dealing with the public for sure.
Fast forward: I moved on to freelance work using Q-tips and cotton balls and started down a path toward serious makeup training.
That path landed me a job with a then smaller company that now you may know well: MAC Cosmetics.
I was suddenly working fabulous jobs, with fabulous people. I learned quite a bit.
Incidentally, I even had my own 15 seconds a week in the spotlight working the background on NBC’s “LAW AND ORDER” and the short lived “CENTRAL PARK WEST.”
When the extras realized I was a MAC artist, I was applying makeup for them as well!
Working for MAC Cosmetics from 1994 -2004, I covered most, if not all, of New Jersey by traveling to various MAC locations for featured events and shows. At one point I ventured out west to Phoenix, Arizona and Lajolla, California. I was even known by a select few as "The M· A· C Girl."
Throughout my career, I thought I had seen it all… all kinds of
brides-to-be:
The SUPER CALM, check herpulse kind of bride... to the EXTREME PANIC/Breathe
Slow in the paper bag bride!
Lo and behold -- five short years ago -- I was in your shoes and let me tell you: As a Bride, I was a mess!
I had no idea ( after 17 years of bridal makeup! ) the amount of blood, sweat and tears we invest to planning a wedding. Through my own matrimonial experience, I truly gained a new respect for brides! Congratulations!
Eventually I decided to leave the MAC counter, and start my own business.
I am grateful for every experience, and will continue to attend advanced makeup courses for the rest of my career.
Currently, along with my work for bridal parties, I have been working
with the WONDERFUL Natasha Baron, director of film, and
ex-director of the N.J. NETS DANCERS.
I hope this sums up a bit about me, without having bored you to tears!
I do recommend a trial application.
There is no additional charge and you will have a preview to the Big Event!
If I can be of further assistance, offer recommendations for salons, photographers, bands, etc. please feel free to call or contact me anytime!
Best of luck to you,
JillyMac/Jill Olsen
